Safe and efficient rigging operations for heavy machinery installation in a manufacturing plant.
The generator hall had only a 4.2-metre wide access opening. Each generator had to be skidded through and onto its plinth within a 5.8-metre clear height. Standard mobile cranes could not enter the building and there were no overhead lifting points.
Chint Engineering designed a bespoke skidding and jacking system using hydraulic gantry frames and a low-profile skid track. Each generator was unloaded by a crawler crane, transferred onto the skid system, moved to its plinth, and jacked onto anti-vibration mounts in a controlled sequence.
All three generators were placed on their plinths within the two-week window. Zero structural damage to the hall. All units were commissioned on time and the electrical installation team proceeded on schedule.
