Design and installation of a large-scale structural steel frame for a commercial building in Lilongwe.
The site was in a densely developed urban area with limited laydown space and a restricted crane envelope. Steel had to be delivered in strict sequence and erected directly from the delivery vehicle, while also interfacing precisely with precast concrete floor panels from a third-party contractor.
Chint Engineering produced detailed 3D shop drawings and a sequenced erection scheme allowing columns and primary beams to be erected in self-supporting four-bay zones. All members were pre-drilled and trial-assembled at our workshop to verify fit-up, eliminating site delays.
The structural steel frame was completed two days ahead of programme with zero lost-time safety incidents. Handover was achieved with all connections torqued, all welds inspected, and steelwork primed and ready for follow-on trades.
